Covid-19

Is covid-19 worse than usual anywhere?

Too little to compare in any country this week.

What is covid-19?

An illness caused by a coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2. Most people get better without special treatment.

Signs
Most often fever, chills and sore throat. Also cough, headache, tiredness, aching muscles, losing taste or smell, and shortness of breath. Some people feel unwell for months (long COVID).
How it spreads
Through tiny droplets in the air when an infected person breathes, talks, coughs or sneezes, especially close up or indoors. People can spread it before they feel ill.
How to protect yourself
Get vaccinated, especially if you are at higher risk. Stay home when sick, cover coughs and sneezes, clean hands often, let fresh air in, and wear a mask in crowded places if you are at risk.
Get medical help
Get urgent help for trouble breathing, chest pain or pressure, confusion, being very drowsy or passing out, or pale, cold or bluish skin. Older or chronically ill people should seek help early.
