Is rabies or a dog bite worse than usual anywhere?

This count includes animal bites, mostly from dogs, that could pass on rabies. Rabies is a virus that attacks the brain and nerves.

Signs: Rabies can take weeks to months to show. It starts with fever and tingling at the bite, then fear of water or slowly spreading weakness.
How it spreads: Through an infected animal's saliva, mainly from bites and scratches. Dogs cause almost all human rabies cases.
How to protect yourself: Vaccinate dogs. If bitten, wash the wound with soap and running water for at least 15 minutes, then get rabies vaccine quickly.
Get medical help: After washing the wound, go to a health worker the same day, even for a small bite. Once rabies signs appear, it is almost always deadly.
