Is bloody diarrhoea worse than usual in Awaran?

Dooram can't tell yet. Too few of Awaran's clinics reported in the last four weeks and in the same weeks of the last two years.

5.0 cases reported in week 39, when 4% of its clinics sent a report.

"Usual" is the same four weeks of the two years before. In 8 of those 8 weeks, fewer than half of Awaran's clinics sent a report, so the cases they show are not Awaran's usual, only how little was reported. In 2 of the last four weeks, fewer than half of its clinics sent a report, so a low count may only mean few reports. Dooram leaves out any week when fewer than half the clinics reported, and here too few weeks are left to compare.

How does Awaran compare with the rest of Pakistan?

Not compared. Each district is compared with its own usual, and Awaran cannot be this time.

What is bloody diarrhoea?

Diarrhoea with blood in it, also called dysentery. It is usually caused by germs in the gut, often a bacterium called Shigella.

Signs
Passing loose or watery poo three or more times a day, with blood in it. Fever and stomach pain are common.
How it spreads
Through food or drinking water dirtied by human or animal poo, and from person to person when hands are not washed.
How to protect yourself
Drink safe water, use a clean toilet, and wash hands with soap. Prepare and store food hygienically, and breastfeed babies only for their first six months.
Get medical help
Always see a health worker when there is blood in poo. Get help fast for signs of drying out: very sleepy, sunken eyes, unable to drink, or skin that springs back slowly when pinched.
